Morgan Francis Murphy, was a U.S. Representative from Illinois. Murphy attended Chicago parochial schools. He received a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University in 1955 and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Murphy received a J.D. from DePaul University School of Law in 1962. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955–1957, including a one-year tour of duty in the Far East. He was administrative assistant to Clerk of the Circuit Court of Chicago from 1958–1961, was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1962, and commenced practice in Chicago. Murphy was special attorney, Board of Election Commissioners, for the 1964 at-large elections. He was attorney for Chicago Dairymen's Association during 1968 milk strikes, and a trustee-management representative of the Milk Wagon Drivers Union. He was hearing officer for Local Liquor Control Commission, 1969–1970 and delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1968 and 1972. Murphy was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-second and to the four succeeding Congresses. Murphy was not a candidate for reelection in 1980 to the Ninety-seventh Congress and resumed the practice of law in Chicago.
